This guide explains how to use the Virtual Agent Testing tab to automate your agent demo recordings.
Introduction
Setting up hardware and recording apps for RCS demo videos can be a significant time sink, especially when managing multiple brand applications. Virtual Agent Testing reduces this process to only a few minutes.
To use this feature, you must first:
- Complete all project application details.
- Provision an Agent ID for your sender.
Once these requirements are met, you can access the tool via the Testing tab or the action link under Next Steps for You.
Recording Allowances
Each TexterID paid plan includes a specific number of virtual agent recording credits.
- Usage: One credit is consumed each time you trigger a new recording session.
- Limits: If you exhaust your plan's allowance, you will need to purchase additional credits to continue recording new demo videos.
Tip: You can check your remaining recording balance by navigating to the Usage page. If you are an account administrator you can purchase more credits for your team by navigating to Settings → Billing.
Running a Test and Creating a Recording
Navigate to the Testing tab and click Get Started. The setup process depends on your integration:
With an Aggregator Integration (API)
Where supported with API-drive aggregator integrations, TexterID automatically handles the device setup and adds the test phone number for you.
Manual Setup
- Click Get Test Device. Our system will spin up a dedicated virtual device and generate a unique phone number.
- Copy this number and go to your aggregator's portal to create a test sender.
- Once you save the test sender in their portal, return to TexterID and select Confirm Invite Sent.
- Our system will automatically scan for and accept the invitation.
Recording the Demo
Once the device is connected, you can customize the interaction flow.
- Configure Keywords: Add up to 5 keywords and rearrange them to match your intended message flow.
- Record: Click Record to start the session.
- Live View: You can watch the virtual device in real time as the system sends keywords and captures responses.
Note: Our system handles one recording at a time per project. If another recording is already running, you might experience a short wait before yours begins.
Tip: If a response is incorrect or you want to adjust your flow, you can change your keywords and re-record instantly once the current session finishes.
Finalizing the Video
After the recording is complete, review the clip and click Approve and Use. This will:
- Automatically attach the video to the Demo Assets section of your project.
- Generate a unique URL for the recording to be included in your submission, allowing providers or clients to view it directly.
